When you think of food relief, a warm meal served during a difficult time might come to mind. At Hare Krishna Melbourne, food relief means so much more. It is not just a good meal had; it is a sense of togetherness found.

At Hare Krishna Melbourne, people from all walks of life are welcomed to share a meal, bringing hope to those who need it most.

For decades, our community has been guided by a simple yet powerful vision: to ensure no one in the city goes hungry. Inspired by our founder Srila Prabhupada’s desire to feed anyone and everyone in need, every week, through initiatives like Food for Life, our community serves thousands of free, low-cost vegetarian meals, easing financial burdens and fostering genuine community connections.

Serving with love and purpose

The heart of Hare Krishna Melbourne’s food relief efforts is our temple in Albert Park, where volunteers prepare and serve free meals three times a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Meals are open to all and shared with warmth and care.

Whatever is happening in your life, at Hare Krishna Melbourne, you’ll always find a tasty meal and a friendly face.

Food For Life at South Melbourne market also serves meals every Sunday from 5pm. Food for Life creates a weekly space where people gather and talk over shared meals while relieving food budget pressures. At a time when financial hardship can be deeply isolating, these small moments of connection make all the difference.

Each meal prepared and shared by Hare Krishna Melbourne is known in Sanskrit as prasasdam: food that has been lovingly cooked and offered with devotion. It’s a spirit of giving that transforms every meal into something deeply meaningful.
